Message from Ms Vuyo Zitumane
Chairperson East Cape Parks and Tourism Agency
Below is our view of this great initiative:
Having experienced the scourge first hand in our own province we understand the need for such awareness programmes and would like to support this programme to its end.
- The ride in its very design symbolises the journey we as a management authority and rhino conservation fraternity have owned from the start of this crisis. Long, complex and full of challenges!
- This gesture of visiting affected conservation areas in an attempt to connect them through their respective efforts is a great way to engender the ethos of team work. Something we cannot surely do without.
- The commitment demonstrated by each rhino partner through the signing of the scroll on its arrival paints a partnership picture that is really quite unique. As one of these partners we salute this!
- The cause you have chosen to receive this projects financial support is a worthy and necessary programme. Care for Wild Africa will care for the orphans and injured animals arising from the scourge of rhino poaching we endorse this programme whole-heartedly.
- The Joint Custody Schools Programme is a vehicle to the youth of South Africa. Its awareness driven programmes will awaken the youth to the future role they will have to play in this battle. Investment in our future will likely be invested in a mass of youth mobilised through this programme – there is no way to measure this until much later in this war against poaching.
- We would also like to challenge other like minded individuals and families to support similar initiatives to support other sectors in the battle against rhino poaching.
